ALBANY, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – On Tuesday, June 13, Governor Kathy Hochul announced the expansion of an initiative to offer more paid leave time for state workers who become new parents. The expansion will give 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave to over 80 percent of the state workforce. COHOES, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The suspect linked to a stabbing late Monday night at the Stewart's Shops at 480 Columbia Street is in custody at the Albany County Correctional Facility. LOUIS - A Hannibal, Missouri, man who spent more than three decades working as a juvenile officer appeared in federal court Tuesday and was sentenced for picking up an at-risk teenager and engaging in illegal sexual activity with her.Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri said Scott Burow, 63, pleaded guilty in October 2022 to one count of transporting a minor across state lines to engage in prohibited sexual conduct.Burow met the then 15-year-old girl on an online dating site in late March 2020. He negotiated with her and agreed to pay her $100 for sex. He also demanded she send him a nude image of herself to ensure she was not an undercover officer or working with law enforcement. A man from Ventura County pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to charges stemming from several bomb threats made over the phone last year, including threats made to a Planned Parenthood office on the day the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. EMERYVILLE — A man fatally shot here May 26 was identified by police Tuesday as Dexter Appleby, 34, of Oakland.He was found with multiple gunshot wounds about about 11:38 p.m. May 26 at the intersection of 41st Street and San Pablo Avenue, near the Oaks Card Club. He was pronounced dead at the scene.Police so far have not said why they believe Appleby was in Emeryville.A motive for the killing has not been determined yet. For years, a mile-long stretch of sand on the rural San Mateo County coast was known for loud late night parties that left behind huge piles of litter.On Tuesday, the stunning property, which was once owned by rock singer Chris Isaak, moved a big step closer to becoming a new public park — the first of its kind in more than 50 years.The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to approve an $11.6 million construction contract to build parking, trails, a ranger station, restrooms, interpretive signs and other amenities at Tunitas Creek Beach.Construction is set to begin by July.
